2023 : 1st Islamic Economics for Islamic Banking and Finance Intellectual Discourse (IEBFID)
For the first time, IRCIEF KUIS has partnered with Markfield Institute of Higher Education in organising the 1st Islamic Economics for Islamic Banking and Finance Intellectual Discourse 2023 which took place at Markfield Institute, Leicester, UK, last July 11 to 13.
IRCIEF has also made history by signing a memorandum of understanding with Markfield Institute of Higher Education in conjunction with the program. Hopefully, this cooperation will open up wider opportunities that are beneficial for both parties.

2021: 4th Islamic Finance Intellectual Discourse (IFID)
4th Islamic Finance Intellectual Discourse (IFID) on 6th – 8th September 2021, jointly organized by International Research Centre of Islamic Economics and Finance (IRCIEF),Centre for Islamic Economics IIUM took place on 6th – 9 th September 2021 via online Zoom Platform. 2019: 3rd ISLAMIC FINANCE INTELLECTUAL DISCOURSE (IFID)
International Research Centre of Islamic Economics and Finance (IRCIEF), KUIS in collaboration with Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance (ASAS), KUISCELL and National University of Malaysia had organized 3rd Islamic Finance Intellectual Discourse (IFID) 2019 on 24th – 26nd September 2019 at Bangi Convention Centre. There were eight (8) academics session by invited speakers held during the program.

2018: 2nd ISLAMIC FINANCE INTELLECTUAL DISCOURSE (IFID)
International Research Centre of Islamic Economics and Finance (IRCIEF), KUIS in collaboration with Kolej Pengajian Islam Johor (MARSAH) had organized 2nd Islamic Finance Intellectual Discourse (IFID) 2018 on 20th – 22nd February 2018 at RHR Hotel @UNITEN, Putrajaya.
This event was attended by 35 participants from various backgrounds and institutions. This three-day event was officiated by Dr Mokmin Basri, Deputy Rector Academic and Research, KUIS. There were seven (7) academics sessions by invited speakers held during the program.
2016: ISLAMIC FINANCE INTELECTUAL DISCOURSE (IFID)
From 18th until 20th October 2016. International Research Centre of Islamic Economics and Finance (IRCIEF) KUIS in collaboration with MARA Professional College Bandar Melaka (KPMBM) had organized the Islamic Finance Intellectual Discourse (IFID) which was held in Novotel Hotel Suits and Resorts Melaka. The objectives for this program are to provide exposure to intellectuals, students as well as the industry on current issues relating to Islamic Finance besides injecting firm understanding and resolution towards current issues on Islamic Finance. This program also held to provide exposure relating to the concepts and operations on the implementation of Islamic Financial system. This programs was attended by 51 participants coming from local and international academic and industry.
The program began on 18th October 2016 with the opening ceremony officiated by Ybhg. Datin Junaidah Binti Abdul Majid Senior Director of Investment MARA. The Opening Ceremony was also attended by Prof Dr Ab Halim Tamuri, Rector of KUIS. After the opening ceremony ended, we continued our program with a speech from invited keynote address speaker, Datuk Dr Daud Bakar and the morning session ended. The afternoon session was continued by first invited speaker, Prof Madya Dr Rusni Hassan, Deputy Dean IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance International Islamic University Malaysia with her topic on Sustaining Financial Stability through Shariah Governance Framework.
The second day began with a speech by Prof Dato Dr Noor Inayah Yaakob with the topic on University-Income Generated Through Waqf followed by Prof Dr Engku Rabiah Adawiah Engku Ali on the topic of Harmonising Contract-Based Shari`Ah Requirements & Market Realities: “Will It Work?” and the morning session ended. The afternoon session continued with the next speaker, Ustaz Nazri Chik, Group Chief Shariah Officer on the topic of Islamic Banking Operation and the second day of the program ended successfully.
We began our third day on 20th October 2016 with next invited speaker, Pn Apnizan Abdullah, representative from IAIS Malaysia carrying the topic on Crowdfunding as an Alternative Fundraising Tool: With Special To The Malaysian Regulatory Response and continued with Tuan Haji Rustam Mohd Idris, Deputy Director of Islamic Banking and Takaful Department, Bank Negara Malaysia with the topic entitle On Policy Considerations In Developing A Dual Financial System In Malaysia and the morning session ended. We continued the afternoon session with the last invited speaker, Prof Dr Abdul Ghafar Ismail with the last topic on Public-Private Partnership Financing: “How does it work?” and the program ended with presentation of certificates to all participants and photography session.
